My New Home

Hi, I am Eddie, the mostly brow-colored dog in the pictures. Eddie was the name I had at the shelter. When Mister Tom brought me to Buster’s and his home I got a longer name. Since I am a special dog, Mister Tom gave me a very special name. My full name is “Captain Eddie Vernon Rickenbacker.” I was named after the World War I flying Ace and Medal of Honor recipient.  Pals-O-Eddie™ mostly call me Eddie but Mister Tom sometimes calls me “The Ed-ster.”

Like Buster I am a mixed-breed dog. Just by looking at us I do not think we came from the same mix.

Mister Tom is the one who found Buster when he was lost in the woods so Mister Tom knows Buster’s story. Mister Tom found me in a shelter so he only knows bits and pieces of my background. Still, I have an interesting story which I put to poetry below.

MY NEW HOME (Copyright 2013 by Captain Eddie)

I came to town from ‘ole Kentuck’,
In a scary vehicle called a truck.

New places, new sights, new sounds and smells,
How exciting that shelter in which I dwelled.

One day I met a man named Mister Tom,
A week later I met his dog Buster Brown.

After that I moved to my forever home,
A place I can call my very own.

Now I play, get pets and go to obedience class,
And come home to rest and snooze at last.
